This Year's Workshops

Cross Stitch Embellishments on Knitting - with Zoe from Junebug & Darlin
In this two-part class, students will learn the basics of creating a chart pattern to use for adding cross stitched embellishments onto any knitting project. We will use traditional cross stitches for our embellishments onto our knits, not duplicate stitch. By using cross stitches onto knitting, a more interesting and dynamic texture is created on your finished make. Think of it like embroidering onto your knits, but with the gridding of colorwork, and afterthought reward, so more fun!
About Zoe
Zoe Frost is the heart, hands, and creative force behind Junebug & Darlin, a queer owned brand based in Portland, OR. When she's not crafting, you'll find her adventuring through the Pacific Northwest’s pine trees, ferns, and rivers with her partner and a dog or two. Zoe’s artistic journey is deeply rooted in her love for nature, queerness, and a fierce “fuck the system” attitude, which she channels into every cross-stitch kit she creates.

Ceramics and Handbuilding: Textured Tray with Jenn and Meghan from JaMpdx
Get an inside look at how JaMpdx makes their ceramics, and make your own textured tray! JaMpdx owners Jenn Gauer and Meghan Radick will give a two-day workshop on how to make a small tray using porcelain clay and slab construction, and then decorate it using underglazes. Your finished trays will be carefully transported back to the JaMpdx studio, glazed in Clear, fired, and shipped to you about 2-3 weeks after the workshop.
About Jenn and Meghan
Jenn Gauer uses fine porcelain and a potters wheel to make each piece of JaMpdx ceramics. She has been working on the wheel since 1996. Jenn designs ceramics with an emphasis on clean curves, making a clay canvas that’s ready for Meghan’s decoration.
Meghan Radick was a professional cake decorator for 15 years before she translated her skills from frosting to clay. She uses cake decorating tools and techniques, as well as various stains and underglazes, to decorate each piece of JaMpdx ceramics.

All About Camp Starlight
Important Accommodation Information
Camp starlight is a rustic retreat with many campers staying in tents on site. You must bring your own tent and it must be waterproof. Weather can be hard to predict this time of year. We’ve had extremely rainy camps and warm, gloriously sunny ones! Please keep this in mind when choosing to attend camp and plan accordingly.
Please note: Camp terrain consists of gravel driveways and bark-dust paths. Restrooms are down a slight gravel driveway and camping requires load in and parking a good distance from your campsite. If you are uncomfortable camping, this may not be the retreat for you.
There are 2 lovely ADA showers and bathrooms onsite for everyone to use, plus 2 more outdoor showers in the upper garden area.
5 yurts and 5 side-wall tents are also available at registration on a first come, first served basis. If you are planning to share a yurt or side wall tent, only one person in your party needs to register for one. Others in your party need only sign up for a tent site and then notate on the registration form that they are sharing a yurt or side wall tent. Please visit the Vernonia Springs gallery for photos of yurt and sidewall layouts.
If you’d like to bring an RV, trailer, or camper, sign up for a tent space. Important note: there are no services or hookups, and you will be walking a couple hundred yards to the main camp area. There are also a limited number of tent/rv spaces for those who do not wish to participate in workshops, but would still like to camp with us. You can sign up for these when registration opens.
You must provide your own transportation to and from the site. Vernonia Springs is about 45 minutes -1 hour from Portland by car. Send us an email after you’ve registered if you are interested in finding a carpool.
Campout Menu - The menu has not yet been determined. If you have dietary restrictions or requests, please note on your registration.
2025 Camp Prices:
$575 per person tent camping. $900 first person Yurt or $800 Side-Wall tent. $375 per person non-workshop participant.
Please let us know if you have any questions! (Please do not contact the Vernonia Springs Campground.)
Cancellation Policy: Because we pay in advance to reserve services at Vernonia Springs, we cannot offer full refunds or cancellations unless someone is available to take your spot. If you must cancel, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your space to our waitlist. When we receive a replacement registration, we can refund your fee minus a 10% service charge. We appreciate your understanding.
